Bec has been a vegan for nearly eight years now; she has always loved animals. She remembers her first childhood pet, Basil; a Burmese cat, and has a fond memory playing in the sandpit with him. Basil liked to steal socks and other random clothing items from the neighbours’ houses. She also remembers the first family dog, Thor- a Great Dane who used to howl every time the family sung ‘Happy Birthday to you’.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
She has been active in the animal rights community for many years, and has attended a numerous vigils, rallies, and marches. She has tried street outreach, but found it too overwhelming so has decided to start a blog; a project that combines a love of both animals and writing.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
In addition to her activism, Bec has volunteered for nearly ten years with the Animal Welfare League QLD as an animal attendant in the cattery. She developed a special fondness for the long-term and elder residents, as well as black felines.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
Bec is also passionate about mental health and supporting those with a disability. She has volunteered with a local support group as a mentor and advocate for adults with various disabilities and\/or mental health issues who need additional social support and friendship.<\/h5>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
